Lloyd EcoDistrict is uniquely located among commercial hubs, leisure destinations, residential homes and public gathering spaces. Where people live, play and work, it can be challenging to understand how we can be better connected to each other while appealing to visitors and newcomers alike. Together with neighborhood organizations, individuals and local businesses came together to envision a more prosperous and innovative Lloyd. As part of a two-part outreach initiative, we tackled equity, resilience and climate protection. How might we create a better future with these three big topics at the forefront? I developed a participatory tool that engaged nearly 100 unique participants to share their ideas and develop ways to transform their ideas into action. Table topics ranged from community space, super neighborhood emergency teams, building innovative green space, youth engagement to futuristic free form. This work accelerated an Action Forum where participants closely connect to the projects they want to see in Lloyd.
